On April 1  the historic Providence Athenaeum will host an adults-only evening among the spellbinding volumes of the great human pursuit to understand our world and ourselves. The event will be emceed by none other than Rhode Island NPR’s iconic Torey Malatia, and will feature talented performers from the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School and Trinity Repertory Company. Expect delicious food, unique entertainment, a silent auction, raffle prizes, and more. All proceeds will benefit the Ocean State Montessori School and its mission of fostering independence, self-esteem, and a life-long love of learning among the children of our community. Enjoy a glass of wine in a secluded alcove, breathe in 180 years of Providence history, imagine the turbulent romance of Edgar Allen Poe and Sarah Helen Whitman happening around the next corner–go get lost in the stacks!

 

Celebrate National DIY with Blooming Artisan!

This Sunday at the Arcade Farmer’s Market, Blooming Artisan will be hosting a hands-on workshop to create Fairy Gardens that you can make and take home with you. A fun and expressive creative escape, Fairy Gardens are whimsical miniature gardens that capture the imagination of children and adults alike. Roll up your sleeves for some much-needed you time, or create cherished family memories with a Do-It-Together activity in the name of a good cause! A portion (20%) of the event’s proceeds will be donated to AdoptAClassroom.org.

Advanced registration is encouraged, to ensure there are enough materials for participants. Walk-ins are welcome while supplies last! Tickets are $35 per person at the door but take advantage of EARLY BIRD registration and SAVE $5 per ticket if purchased before March 31. Family packages offers even great savings!
