TGIF! See what’s happening in Downcity this weekend!
Trivioke at The Boom Box
122 Fountain St :: Friday 21st :: 7pm :: Free
DOORS OPEN AT 5:30pm, GAME BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 7!
You love pub trivia. And you love karaoke. But have you ever wondered what would happen if those two crazy kids got drunk one night, made sweet, sweet lovin’, and then went half on a baby (as the poet R. Kelly would say)? Wonder no more: TRIVIOKE is at The Boombox on the second-to-last Friday of every month!
To win at TRIVIOKE, you’ll need to muster both your useless trivia knowledge and your best karaoke theatrics. Gather your friends and form a team. Then, be prepared to recall random facts, occasionally answer in the form of a song, and withstand the judgment of the Karaoke Challenge round. Your hosts John Taraborelli and Desiree Nash, and your fabulous bar maven Katie Masterson will keep the fun going.
There is no cover and it’s free to join the fun, but space is limited so advanced sign-ups are strongly encouraged. Teams should be between 4-6 people. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to register your team name.
A typical TRIVIOKE game works as follows: We start with 2 rounds of straight up pub trivia, usually with a quirky pop culture angle. The third round is the Karaoke Trivia round, in which teams must guess a song based on a clue, and respond by singing it. We have two more rounds of pub trivia, with a Karaoke Challenge in between where teams can win bonus points by choosing a karaoke-based dare. In between rounds, there are impromptu karaoke sing-alongs and other hijinks.
Email email@example.com to sign up.

First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

Meet Your Maker at Providence Public Library
150 Empire Street :: Sunday 23rd :: 1pm-4pm :: Free
Eat, drink and shop local with Hope & Main and the Providence Public Library!
Hope & Main is pleased to join Providence Public Library for this special A La Rhody event. Meet Your Maker is an opportunity for the community to take a peek inside Rhode Island’s food manufacturing economy. Our local “foodieconomy” is fueled by the relationship between food makers, growers, educators and the consumer. at Meet Your Maker, market-goers can see these relationships in action, meet the food and beverage makers themselves, and learn what inspires these new food entrepreneurs to charge ahead with their businesses.
The PPL Meet Your Maker will feature Turn for the Wurst, Rhode Island’s all chef band featuring Chez Pascal’s Sous Chef Brian Gibney and other local “cookin’ musicians”!
Red’s Street Kitchen will be welcoming you to the Washington Street entrance!
All are welcome!
