Calling everyone who adores croissants, macarons, and Parisian-style dining: Ellie’s, a Providence based-bakery and eatery, is opening at its new location on Westminster Street!

We, along with the team at Cornish Associates, are beyond excited to welcome Ellie's to its new home at 250 Westminster Street—with the main entrance on Union Street—in downtown Providence, RI. The bakery and beloved breakfast and lunch spot opens to the public at its new location on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (This location is just a few blocks from their previous location on Weybosset Street, so don’t worry- they have not gone far!)

THE NEW LOCATION

“We were facing having to close Ellie’s,” said Ellie’s proprietor Ellen Gracyalny. “We noticed the 250 Westminster Street location listed for lease and began discussions with Cornish. We are so thankful to the Cornish team for supporting us through this transition and are excited about returning to our original roots alongside the InDowncity community.”

As the team at Ellie’s begins a new chapter at a different location, the larger and more central location is still the Ellie’s we all know and love. As always, guests can expect familiar faces serving up all their favorites from the existing Ellie’s menu- macarons! Croissants! Bouchons!

Following the reopening, there will be exciting new additions to the menu. We also hear they’ll continue to serve breakfast and lunch, with the expansion into an evening wine bar in the fall. (We’ll raise a glass to that.)

The new location continues the indoor and outdoor seating Ellie’s is known for, and offers customers proximity to the new Grant’s Block Park for ample outdoor seating. The restaurant will host regular classes and events and is available for private rentals.

In 2012, Ellie’s was the first business to open in Cornish Associate’s new storefronts at the Biltmore Garage at 61 Washington Street. Gracyalny is the proprietor, and Matthew Varga currently leads the kitchen. The same talented team is behind Gracie’s, located at 194 Washington Street. (You’ve probably seen us gushing about the wine flights and gorgeous 5-7 course meals at Gracie’s.)

"The team is filled with anticipation as we prepare to warmly welcome guests to our new home on Westminster Street,” says Gracyalny. She expresses deep gratitude for the invaluable role that Cornish Associates has played in this endeavor. Gracyalny and her team are excited to become an integral part of the vibrant downtown Providence community, with Ellie's poised to become a beloved addition to this bustling neighborhood.

We are very excited for Ellie’s reopening and hope that you’ll help us give them a warm welcome to Westminster Street! To keep up with the latest news from Ellie’s, visit their website and follow them on instagram.
