The Vault Collective Turns Five

The Vault Collective, located at 235 Westminster Street, turned five on September 15! The store offers highly curated men’s and women’s clothes, shoes, accessories, and more from the 1880s – 1990s, from a variety of local sellers.

The Vault started as a six-month pop-up store in September 2014, but within the first few months it was clear there was enough support from the community to continue on, so owner Ruth Meteer signed on for another six-months, and then eventually signed on long-term lease with Cornish Associates.

Five years and 100,000 inventoried vintage items later, The Vault has grown into a thriving woman-owned business with two stores; a second location opened in August 2017 in Burlington, VT. Together the two stores support 25 local, independent vintage entrepreneurs.

“We can’t thank our hometown of Providence enough for the journey of the last five years. Seriously, RI, we owe all of it to you – for your choice to dress expressively, shop sustainably, and support our collection of hyper-local participating small businesses.”
