New Cocktail Menu at The Boombox

It could be argued National Margarita Day should be everyday! But if you missed celebrating with a drink on the actual date, February 22, we have a suggestion for how you can make up for it all year long: head to The Boombox in Providence, RI for their new and colorful cocktail menu.

Whether you’re looking for a lively singalong in the company of strangers, or prefer a karaoke session with friends in a private room, The Boombox provides the drinks and the music. Since the karaoke lounge opened in 2014, it has served as host to birthday celebrations, wedding parties, office events, and as a casual meetup space for anyone seeking out karaoke.

Up until now The Boombox has served a delightful array of sake based cocktails. But in late 2021, owner Ethan Feirstein decided it was time to add to the menu.

“After reopening post-Covid lockdown and after celebrating over 7 years in business, we felt it was time to usher in The Boombox's next chapter,” says Feirstein. “We worked with local cocktail consultant, Catherine Sousa, on our new selection of spirits, local beers, and wines, to create a cocktail menu that is colorful and delicious.”

So let’s dive into five of the ten new cocktails on the menu at The Boombox. (View the full menu here.)

I’M BLUE

The “psychedelic margarita” of the menu–according to Feirstein–this cocktail includes blanco tequila, blue curaçao, chrysanthemum syrup, ginger shrub, and lime juice all in a glass with a spiced salt rim. The song “I’m Blue” by Eiffel 65 served as the inspiration.

MIAMI SOUND MACHINE

For anyone who wants to be transported to a land of sunshine and fresh fruit, the “Miami Sound Machine” is for you! This sweet cocktail is brimming with rum, aperol, strawberry, lime, banana liqueur, pineapple, coconut, and more in a layered masterpiece. The drink is The Boombox’s take on the classic Miami Vice cocktail; their version is aptly named after the band Miami Sound Machine. Sing “Rhythm is Gonna Get You” while sipping!

THE LOVE CAT

It’s unsurprising the most popular cocktail on the menu at The Boombox is this one. One look at the white, cat-shaped mug and it’s easy to be convinced the punch inside is just as delightful! Enjoy a mixture of sake, shōchū, vanilla liqueur, guava, hibiscus tea, and all the citrus- grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime. The cocktail name pays homage to a beloved song by The Cure.

KISS FROM A ROSE

If you’re looking for romance—in the form of a drink—look no further! Named after “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal, this lovely pink cocktail contains Aperol, rosé vermouth, sparkling wine, and rose water.

TINI DANCER

The espresso martini of the menu, meet “Tini Dancer!” (If you guessed it’s named after the popular Elton John song, you’d be right.) Enjoy the sweet combination of cognac, coffee liqueur, vanilla liqueur, Demerara syrup, and some delicious cold brew concentrate from Bolt Coffee.
