4 Spots We’re Grabbing Burgers in Providence
Sometimes there is simply an insatiable craving for those of us who eat meat (though we also have a vegetarian option, too)- and that craving is only satisfied by biting into a burger so juicy that we need about sixteen napkins to clean up after ourselves. Grilled, topped with crispy onions, paired with fries… Whatever the presentation, we’re here for it. And when that craving hits, there are four places we are going for burgers in downtown Providence, RI.
TRINITY BREWHOUSE
Trinity Brewhouse on Fountain Street has been serving cold, delicious beers—brewed in-house—since it opened as a brewpub back in 1994. Since then, we’ve found that Trinity is the place not only to enjoy a nice draft but also a hefty, flavorful hamburger. There’s something for nearly everyone when it comes to their selection of half pound burgers: Angus burgers, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, the “Pickle Jack” burger (the fried pickle spears and pepper jack cheese are a great combo), and so much more.
DURK’S BAR-B-Q
When it comes to smoked meat in downtown Providence, Durk’s Bar-B-Q on Aborn Street is a must! We have several favorite meat dishes: brisket, pulled pork, wings… And—of course—the half pound burger. This burger has a double patty that is juicy and crispy, topped with crispy onions, cheese, and a BBQ mayo that is the metaphoric icing on top. Make sure to order a side of pirogies or corn bread, too.
THE MALTED BARLEY
Whenever we think of pretzels (which is more than we care to admit), The Malted Barley on Westminster Street immediately comes to mind. We’re well versed in all the kind of house-made pretzels they offer- pretzels for dinner, dessert, and snacks in between, from garlic and parsley to apple pie stuffed. Alongside sandwiches, they also serve a delectable monster called the Barley Bacon Beast Burger. It’s fantastic when paired with a flight of refreshing beer!
GIFT HORSE
When Gift Horse on Westminster Street opened in downtown Providence in June 2023, we could not wait to get our hands on the oysters, crudo, clams, and all of the other raw bar items. But what we also found ourselves craving was the Bulgarian-style Lamb Burger. It’s a delicious, salty creation, featuring feta, pepper jelly, and fried onions. We highly recommend ordering this burger as your main after slurping back a few Aquidneck Cups.
