5 Ways to Practice Self-Care in 2022
Congratulations- you made it through 2021! January is here and there’s opportunity for new beginnings. Whether or not you’re one for New Year’s resolutions, winter is the perfect season to positively change your mindset and focus on the little things that make life sweet.
Not sure where to get started? We have five ideas of ways you can take care of yourself in Providence, RI in 2022!
1. SNUGGLE UP AND READ
One simple way to enjoy yourself is to take a seat on the sofa and read something wonderful! Wrap a faux fur throw from Homestyle around your shoulders, light a Whiskey Vanilla scented candle from Craftland, and dive into A Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger—available at Symposium Books—for a soft, imaginative young adult fiction book based on Lipan Apache lore.
Feeling more pensive? Get to work jotting down your thoughts and reflections in a gorgeous Craftland notebook.
2. DRESS COMFY AND COZY
Reluctant to turn the heat up? Or prefer temperatures that lead to all the layering? We have all the cozy clothes for you! Start by slipping into fuzzy slippers from Homestyle. If you’re a sweatshirt person, you’ll love the crewnecks from Civil. If you prefer a sweater, some vintage knitwear from The Vault Collective is the answer for keeping you toasty.
3. ENJOY A HOT DRINK
Although New Englanders do love iced coffee year round, there’s something so comforting about a steaming hot beverage on a bitterly cold day. Delight in fresh beans from Bolt Coffee Co while using your brand new French Press from Queen of Hearts and Modern Love! Even better- sip in a charmingly Rhody-themed mug from Craftland.
Looking for something with a bit more of a kick? Why not make a Hot Toddy at home? Purchase whiskey from Eno Fine Wines, tea from the selection at Serendipity Gourmet, and Wildflower Honey from Queen of Hearts and Modern Love; combine with cinnamon and lemon.
4. MEET UP WITH A FRIEND
Spending time with the friends and family members who are closest to you can do a world of good. If you’d like to venture out, consider planning to meet up for coffee- Small Point Cafe, Bolt Coffee Co, and Little City Coffee and Kitchen are all great options for spontaneous socialization!
Looking for delicious comfort food to enjoy while catching up? Kin Southern Table and Bar and Durk’s Bar-B-Q have outrageously good mac and cheese. (And they offer both takeout and delivery!) View all the places we recommend dining in downtown Providence in our InDowncity directory.
5. SCHEDULE A SOOTHING SKINCARE SESSION
With wind, rain, and snow often in the winter forecast, odds are your skin and hair could use a little attention! Why not take care of your facial hair with lavender basil scented Beard Oil from Queen of Hearts and Modern Love? And few things are more soothing than setting aside time to massage and sculpt your facial features with a Soulita Gua Sha tool (important: don’t forget Soulita’s Rose Oil during the process)!
Or, if you’re looking for the full body experience, fill your bathtub to the brim with warm water and luxuriate in a nice dose of Sea Foam Apothecary Bath Soak from Homestyle.
