Summer 2025
Hey Providence, we’re back!
-
All movies begin at dusk (check sunset times and follow @InDowncityPVD for announcements).

Presented by InDowncity, Cornish Associates and your favorite downtown small businesses, Movies on the Block is the city's only outdoor movie theatre!
Hey Providence, it’s been a minute. How’s everyone doing?? We’re so glad to be here, announcing our return season planned for 2025. We’ve been on pause since 2019! It’s wild how time flies, but we’re ready to step outside and hang again.
We’re returning to the newly improved Grant’s Block park at 260 Westminster Street in downtown Providence, where the first Movie’s on the Block debuted in 2008. (that’s 17 years ago!).
This summer, Movies on the Block will be back for just FOUR very special Thursday evening screenings.
Here are a few things to keep in mind before visiting:
The movies are weather dependent, so cancellations and rescheduled films will be announced on the InDowncity instagram and right here on this page.
Much like a trip to the beach, we do not provide seating. Please come prepared with a blanket or beach chairs. Benches are limited and on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Come early - space is limited and fills up quickly.
Order some to-go from a downtown restaurant. @InDowncityPVD can help you out with some suggestions. More on to-go concession partners soon!
We do not recommend bringing pets. Whilst we love a friendly pup, this is a public event that often gets quite crowded. For the safety and comfort of all guests, we ask that you leave fido behind.
While we know it’s tempting to bring the kiddos, this is a nighttime event and the movie content is not always suitable for children. Please do your own research to determine the age appropriateness of the film for your children.
Tell all your friends... Head down to Westminster, grab some concessions and bevs at a local restaurant and watch some of your favorite films under the stars. Always free!
-
Your favorite downtown restaurants are partnering with us on the concessions for this season. More details to be announced shortly, but imagine the most delicious snacks from Oberlin, Ellie’s, Cielito and many more all available to order to-go for easy enjoyment during the movies.
-
Should inclement weather cause a cancellation or rescheduling, an announcement will be made via the @InDowncityPVD account and right here on this site. Announcements will be made as late as an hour prior to screening time, so please check regularly for the latest updates.
-
We always encourage people to arrive by bike, foot, or public transportation when possible. If you plan to drive, parking can be found on city streets and also in many nearby parking lots, including the parking lot adjacent to the Grant’s Block park, with its entrance at 191 Weybosset St.
