5 Places for Breakfast Sandwiches in Providence

Whether you’re on your way to work or it’s the morning after a night out, nothing hits quite like a breakfast sandwich. Paired with a spicy vegan aioli, cradled between housemade English muffins, or strewn with arugula, we love any and all combinations of egg and cheese. If you feel the same way and are wondering where to grab breakfast sandwiches in Providence, RI, we have the roundup for you! Here are five places in the downtown neighborhood where we can often be found gobbling down sandwiches any given morning.

BOLT COFFEE CO

It’s hard to make a roundup of breakfast sandwiches in Providence without including Bolt Coffee Co! While Bolt has other downtown locations, including within The Dean Hotel and the RISD Museum, we’re partial to their Washington Street spot (the plants and pink marble just sing to us). And this particular location’s singular breakfast sandwich is so delicious that it stands proudly by itself as the only sandwich of its kind on the menu. We’re big fans of the scrambled eggs, cheese, incredible tomato jam, onions, greens, and—of course—the pillowy brioche.

RORY’S MARKET + KITCHEN

When it comes to breakfast sandwiches, Rory’s Market and Kitchen offers fantastic vegan options! Ever since Rory’s opened in downtown Providence in September 2022, we’ve been stopping in for our fill of organic groceries and cafe items. Their cafe offerings include a personal favorite sammy of ours: the “Just Egg and Arugula.” The sandwich is made with a delightful combination of Just Egg, arugula, and vegan cheddar cheese, topped with a chipotle spread and slammed between two slices of toasted ciabatta.

SMALL POINT CAFE

Small Point Cafe is a classic stop for coffee in downtown Providence. The interior of the cafe is lush, with brightly colored cushioned chairs and a variety of plants on nearly every surface. When looking for a variety of breakfast sandwich options, Small Point is our go-to. We love that we can build our own breakfast sandwich, with a variety of egg styles, toppings, and breads.. Last time we were in, we ordered a breakfast sandwich with over easy eggs, cheese, and avocado on an everything bagel.

LITTLE CITY COFFEE & KITCHEN

Little City Coffee & Kitchen is fast approaching their second anniversary in downtown Providence. (We guess that time flies when we’re so busy enjoying their scrumptious menu items?!) Whenever we’re looking for a unique, delicious vegetarian option for breakfast sandwiches, we pop into Little City for their “Pulled Mushroom Sandwich.” The savory combination of portobello mushrooms, eggs, crispy shallots (these add all sorts of wonder to the sammy), and smoky cheddar on a housemade English muffin is unforgettable.

SERENDIPITY GOURMET

When looking for a quick, in-and-out breakfast option, we head straight to Serendipity Gourmet on Union Street. With an array of groceries and a fantastic deli, Serendipity has been a staple bodega in our downtown neighborhood for years. If we’re in a hurry in the morning, we’ll order a classic breakfast sandwich with ham, eggs, and cheese. This is a filling, no-frills, delicious option to start off the day. And a tip: Serendipity serves brekkie sammy’s all day!
