We have waited all year to say this: spooky season is finally here! And there is plenty going on in downtown Providence, RI, as Halloween approaches. Whether you’re interested in painting pumpkins with the kiddos, or cannot wait to sip on a cocktail while dancing the night away in costume, we have seven Halloween events on the calendar for all the ghouls and ghosts.

Friday, October 28

THE BOOMBOX: HALLOWEEN SCARY-OKE

The Boombox, within The Dean Hotel, has two nights of music and costumes on deck! Head to The Boombox on Friday, October 28 or on Saturday, October 29 for their Halloween Scary-oke nights. Sing some of your favorite songs and enter for a chance to win the Best Karaoke Performance in Costume contest. Contestestants must sign up by 10:30 p.m. and the contest begins at 11 p.m.

TORI TOMO: HALLOWEEN RAMENTACULAR PHOTO CONTEST

If you love costumes and love ramen, then Tori Tomo has the contest for you. Just follow these instructions:

  1. Head to Tori Tomo between Friday, October 28 and Monday, October 31.

  2. Take a picture in your costume at their location at 69 Washington Street (we hear your entry will be doubled if you’re in an anime themed costume).

  3. Tag @toritomo_pvd on Instagram and use the hashtag #ramentacular.

Winners receive a $50 gift card to Tori Tomo; names will be pulled on Tuesday, November 1.

Saturday, October 29

RORY’S MARKET + KITCHEN: PUMPKIN PAINTING

Looking for something to do with the kids? Head to Rory’s Market + Kitchen at 113 Washington Street for their free pumpkin painting event. The event takes place on Saturday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Painting supplies will be provided, and signing up is required.

CIVIL: HALLOWEEN SKATE JAM

Have some skills to show off? Flip or kick it on your skateboard at Civil’s Halloween Skate Jam on Saturday, October 29 from 1-5 p.m. The jam is free, open to the public, and fun for folks of all ages. Prizes will be awarded for the top tricks, and there will even be a costume contest! Head to the Downtown Providence Skatepark—next to Trinity Brewhouse—for all the fun.

THE SALON: GOOD TIMES HALLOWEEN PARTY

Dance the night away—in costume, if you’d like—at The Salon at 57 Eddy Street on Saturday, October 29, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.! Play pinball or grab a drink at the bar upstairs before heading down to the “cutting room floor” where local DJs Cam Bells, Séga Genn, and Yoonorlan will be spinning the tunes. The Salon is open to those 21+. RSVP here for $5, or buy (limited) tickets at the door for $10.

GRACIE’S: SPOOKY DRINKS WITH THE INDUSTRIOUS SPIRITS COMPANY

On Sunday, October 30, taste Gracie’s brand new fall menu alongside a special flight of spooky cocktails! The Industrious Spirits Company will be serving up the drinks all night long at 194 Washington Street. Make a reservation here and come dressed up in your favorite costume (if you so desire).

Monday, October 31

THE MALTED BARLEY: SPOOKY TRIVIA

Each Monday and Wednesday, The Malted Barley at 334 Westminster Street hosts trivia. This week, on Monday, October 31, they’re switching it up with a chilling spooky themed night of trivia. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and costumes are encouraged. Order a flight of beers, a couple of housemade pretzels, and put your knowledge to the test!
