16 Gifts That InDowncity Loves

This holiday season, we’ve done our due diligence combing the catalogs of small businesses in downtown Providence, RI. And after putting together a variety of gifts guides—from gifts for foodies to gifts for folks who love Rhode Island—we’ve narrowed it down to the gifts that we especially enjoy giving. (Trust us- it was hard work trying to pick just a few items that are our must-haves!) From sweet shoes, to sweet wine, to sweet snack recipes, we’re here to share what we’re buying for our loved ones.

WE RECOMMEND…

Aqua Gurgling Fish Pitcher, Homestyle, $68

Our gurgling fish pitcher is a favorite on our dining room tables. Not only is it a beautiful color but the gurgling that emits from the vessel every time we pour water is hilarious.

Natural Berber Throw, Bali Bungalow, $165

These beautiful throws—handmade in Bali—look wonderful as decor on the back of a couch, or for snuggling up at the end of the day.

Industrial Trust Building Ceramic Bowl, Craftland, $19

Perfect as a ring dish or for holding a tiny, tasty treat, we adore these mini ceramic bowls! It’s just a bonus that this one showcases the iconic “Superman Building” in downtown Providence.

Vans The Lizzie, Civil, $95

Named after legendary skater Lizzie Armanto, the “Lizzies” are one of our go-to pairs of shoes to slip on whenever we’re out and about in search of adventure.

Snacking Bakes by Rossy Arefi, Symposium Books, $25

Chocolate chip snickerdoodle cake! Triple chocolate olive oil blondies! Fudgy sesame oat cookies! Need we say more?

Bodegas Berroja - Bizkaiko Txakolina Berroia 2021, Eno Fine Wines, $21

For those who enjoy a good Spanish white: try a glass of this Txaxolina! It’s light, fruity, and fresh.

Lila Sweater, Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, $62

It’s officially sweater weather, so bundle up in a thick, cozy sweater like this one (the multicolor pattern is undeniable, in our opinion).

Victorian 12K Multicolor Gold Fill Book Locket, The Vault Collective, $128

Have a reader on your list? Well, watch out- we might just snatch up this book-shaped locket before you. Grab it quick!

UF PVD Champion Crewneck, Urban Fellow, $40

As folks who love promoting and supporting the small businesses that make our city the city it is, of course we love this “PVD” sweatshirt from local barbershop Urban Fellow!

Muzen Blue Mini Bluetooth Speaker, Homestyle, $75

As much as we love popping in our earbuds and channeling some main character energy while listening to music, it’s also nice to have an easy, portable option for playing music out loud (and this small but mighty speaker is way better than phone speakers).

Civil MF Hood, Civil, $60

This sweatshirt from Civil is soft and the most gorgeous of greens.

Poketo Glass Candlestick, Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, $32

As people who love to host an elegant dinner party, we know that candlelight can make all the difference. These pink candlesticks are so gorgeous that we had to grab a set of them!

Mostly Plant-Based Platters and Boards by Lea Dixon, Symposium Books, $25

Dream big with a variety of gorgeous platter and board ideas from Lea Dixon. While these are not vegan arrangements, there’s a dizzying array of grains, nuts, and vegetables plated next to the cheeses.

Pink Babydoll Dress, The Vault Collective, $175

The Vault Collective is one of our go-to spots in Providence to shop vintage. The dress selection often has us dedicating a good portion of the time in the dressing room, deliberating over what we’re taking home. This confection of a dress is just such a temptation!

Swallow Tea Towels, Craftland, $14

How cute are these tea towels? The birder on your list will likely be all aflutter too as they receive them.

Shelburne Vineyard - Iapetus Figure 3 Pet Nat, Eno Fine Wines, $40

With a description like the following, it’s no wonder this is a bottle we enjoy: “A racy cranberry and dansom plum accented ultra-dry bubbly delight from a low intervention winery in Vermont.”
