August 28: Last Open Air Saturdays of the Summer

WE CANNOT BELIEVE IT. Somehow, we are nearing the end of summer! Join us downtown this week, on Saturday, August 28, for the FINAL Open Air Saturdays of the season. Westminster Street will be closed from 12-6 p.m. to vehicle traffic between Eddy and Union streets, providing more space for pedestrians to take to the street for shopping, dining, and soaking up the sunshine.

WEEKLY PROGRAMMING

First off, don’t miss Long Live Beergarden! This is the last weekend of the summer that Long Live will be downtown on Grants Block, so be sure to give them a warm sendoff: they’re open this week from 3-9 p.m on Friday, 12-9 p.m. on Saturday, and 12-6 p.m. on Sunday.

During Open Air Saturdays, enjoy live music performances at Long Live. The Conversation Trio brings jazz downtown from 1-3 p.m. and Yacouba Diabate plays the kora from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Musicians are in collaboration with Providence World Music and the programming is sponsored by InDowncity.

On Westminster, find two food trucks serving up the goods starting at noon: Farm to Sandwich assembles some scrumptious sandos, and Atomic Blonde Ice Cream scoops all the frozen desserts.

High Society PVD sells original merchandise as a pop-up in front of Civil, from 12-5 p.m.

Stroll a few blocks over to Trinity Beer Garden, at Biltmore Park, for Social Saturdays from 1-10 p.m. Music, games, and food trucks are all part of the lineup! Trinity Beer Garden is open through the fall.
