6 Spots to Sip Mocktails in Downtown Providence

Mocktails in Providence: mocktail at Clementine

In case you missed it, mocktails are here to stay. While some of us have been enjoying Shirley Temples for years (ahem, some rebels among us may have been banned from drinking said drink during childhood due to an alleged intense sugar high after four too many), the options for mocktails are growing more and more varied. We love the display of creative flavors some of our go-to spots in Providence, RI boast.

There are so many places to choose from in the city, but we’ve rounded up the places we frequent in our neighborhood. If you are looking to enjoy non-alcoholic beverages while having a night out, here are InDowncity’s recommendations for mocktails in Downtown Providence.

(Please note that many menus are seasonal, so while the vibes are the same the drinks may change!)

CLEMENTINE COCKTAIL BAR

Clementine Cocktail Bar is like dining in a glittering, brightly colored jewelry box, and we’re here for it! While the bar is well-known for inventive flavor combinations and the eye-catching presentation of their cocktails (we love anytime a smoke bubble comes perched atop a cocktail), they also have three signature mocktails on the menu as well. For a sweet, honeydew and lime option, order the “Morning Dew.” For a familiar flavor, try the alcohol-free “N/A Negroni.” The “Floreale” is perfect for those who want something a little floral, sweet, and sour.

THE EDDY

It can be challenging to think about the downtown mocktail scene without immediately thinking about The Eddy! Located on the downtown Providence street of the same name, the interior is warm and wooded, while generous outdoor seating extends onto the street next to the bar. The Eddy is a classic destination for drinks on a night out, and we always enjoy the imaginative flavor combinations. For current mocktails, a favorite of ours is the sweet and flowery “Hibiscus Breeze.” The “El Angel” also packs a nice zesty punch.

THE DEAN BAR

The Dean Bar is a great spot for anyone looking for sipping a mocktail in a cozy, swoony environment… (Like, seriously, the vibe is romantic… Someone take us there on a date!) Located within The Dean Hotel, the bar is a fantastic spot for a nightcap or meeting up with friends for a drink. For the citrus lovers, The Dean Bar’s “Paloma” combines grapefruit and the spirit Notas de Agave for a non-alcoholic delight. There’s also an NA Cosmo option, too!

OBERLIN

We love to complete any meal with a tasty drink that pairs well with it. And when it comes to dining at Oberlin, we are elated that there are lovely mocktail options to sip on while feasting on housemade pastas, fresh bread, and farm-to-table fare. For no alcohol by volume (ABV) mixed drinks, we recommend the “Oberlin Citrus Cordial” for a light, refreshing and zesty choice. The “Garden Julep” is very herbal and relaxing.

GIFT HORSE

When it comes to restaurants, Gift Horse is the newest kid on the block in Downtown Providence (to our delight, they opened a little over a year ago in June 2023). With a focus on raw bar items and food with a South Korean flair, each dish is fresh, delicious, and brings something new to the neighborhood. Since before they opened their doors, we heard that Gift Horse would offer mocktails. Currently, guests can order a delightful (very Rhody) non-alcoholic drink called “Del’s with Dinner” and it’s excellent. Lemon! Lime! Citrus Cordial! The “Orange Shrub” is one of our longstanding favorites, too.

GRACIE’S

Elegance is the first word that comes to mind whenever we step inside Gracie’s. This fine dining restaurant has been host to many occasions, from gorgeous wedding receptions, to exquisite wine tastings. While we adore the five to seven course tasting menu that Gracie’s is lauded for, we’re partial to walking in on a Wednesday night in jeans and grabbing casual mocktails and cocktails with a pal. The mocktail options are sweet and zesty and truly worth the trip to downtown Providence.
