The Weekly: 2/20/25 Guide to Downtown Providence

In Providence, there’s always something interesting going on! And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

LUNCH AT CIELITO MEXICAN KITCHEN

Whether it’s a weekend shopping in downtown Providence, or the middle of a busy workday, nothing hits quite like fresh tacos at lunch. And lunch at Cielito Mexican Kitchen on Union Street is thankfully an option Monday through Saturday!

Ever since Cielito opened in Summer 2024, we’ve been enjoying a variety of Mexican dishes. From Quesadilla de Champiñón (a super savory, cheesy mushroom quesadilla), to a torta with steak, to sweet al pastor tacos, the options are tantalizing. We just can’t wait to go back!

NOW AVAILABLE: CATERING FROM ELLIE’S

Are you hosting brunch with friends, a work lunch, or a family function? Not sure that you want to commit to the possible stress of baking and cooking up a storm for your guests? We have great news: Ellie’s—a delicious downtown Providence cafe and bakery—is offering catering again! You can find out how to order here.

Choose from breakfast, lunch, pastries—we’re talking sweet and nutty French macarons and rich chocolate bouchons—and beverages. Orders can be picked up Tuesday-Saturday and the time required to order ahead can vary by catering order size. (And ICYMI, Ellie’s moved from Mathewson Street to Westminster Street during Summer 2024.)

A NEW FAVORITE RED WINE FROM ENO FINE WINES

When we’re downtown, stopping in at Eno Fine Wines on Westminster Street is always a treat. We’ve been recently enjoying a fruity, flavorful bottle of “Blaufränkisch.” It’s a natural red wine from Meinklang, winemakers hailing from Austria.

With beautiful shelves from 1895 laden with wines from around the world, there’s always so much to choose from. Not where to start? The Eno staff are super helpful! And they host casual, free in-store tastings each Friday from 4:30-6:30 pm, so you can discover something new while browsing.
