In Providence, there’s always something interesting going on! And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

20% OFF HOTEL STAYS IN DOWNTOWN PROVIDENCE

Don’t miss this steal: from now through Friday, Feb. 28, bookings for staying at The Dean Hotel in downtown Providence are 20% off! Just make sure to book a date that takes place in March 2025. Book yourself a staycation overnight or invite those distant relatives to come for a visit. The Dean offers a unique, beautiful stay in a building that also includes The Boombox (a popular karaoke bar) and The Dean Bar (a moody bar with excellent drinks).

And there’s plenty of reasons to stay in Providence this winter season! Either plan a little staycation to combat winter blues, or make sure you have a place to stay near all the Providence fun in March. We can’t wait for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations; Providence Culinary Collective on March 27-30; Lil Rhody Laugh Riot on March 27-30 (including comedy shows at The Vets and the Providence Performing Arts Center); and more.

MONTHLY BOOK CLUB AT SYMPOSIUM BOOKS

Pretty much each month, Symposium Books on Westminster Street hosts a book club. This month, head to the store on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 pm for an invigorating discussion of Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler.

Symposium Books has been a staple in the downtown Providence community with their wealth of new titles, used books, records, and more. They often host open mic nights, book clubs, author events, and a variety of other community events in their space. (Check out their Instagram @symposiumbooks for event updates and new book release announcements.)

SPRING IS COMING TO LITTLE RHODY AND WE CAN’T WAIT

Turns out that all we needed was a few rays of sunshine and temperatures above freezing, and we’re in heaven here in Providence… We don’t know about you, but we are so looking forward to springtime and all the wardrobe changes we can make then. One item we’re loving that we can’t wait to wear soon is this whimsical tee from Craftland!

Rhode Island is a quirky, creative, wonderful place so of course we’re highly amused by the text emblazoned across this comfy aqua tee: “Rhode Island: 3% bigger at low tide.” Craftland is one of our go-to shops in downtown Providence when it comes to buying local and handmade cards, dishes, jewelry, and more.

PORTLAND, ME RESTAURANT POP-UP AT GIFT HORSE

Get ready to feast! On Sunday, March 2, Chef Amadeus Florence of Portland, ME is bringing his restaurant pop-up, “Pulutan,” to Gift Horse on Westminster Street in downtown Providence. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and no reservations are required for this collaboration between Pulutan and Gift Horse!

Wondering what to expect? Pulutan is all about Filipino flavors, including a full menu, a special raw bar tower, drinks, and more. The menu will be available to order off of, a la carte. This is especially exciting since Gift Horse is one of our go-to spots for raw bar items!
