*CANCELLED* October 1: Last Open Air Saturdays 2022

EVENT UPDATE: We are sad to announce that Open Air Saturdays is *CANCELLED* today, October 1, due to weather. And that wraps up our 2022 OAS season. We have so enjoyed the beer gardens, live music, marketplaces, and more with you all these past few months. We hope to see you soon, PVD!

InDowncity has brought back the popular outdoor event series “Open Air Saturdays” to downtown Providence! Check out what’s planned for our FINAL Open Air Saturdays (OAS) on October 1.

After kicking off OAS back in May, we have enjoyed sharing programming across the city on the first Saturday of each month. We’re now quickly approaching the end of the season and our final date. Join us for family-friendly (and dog-friendly) fun on October 1 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Each OAS event features live music performances, a rotating line-up of food trucks, two beer gardens, two marketplaces, outdoor games and activities, ample outdoor dining at local restaurants, and more. We encourage attendees to make a day of it by visiting multiple locations throughout downtown: Grant’s Block, Aborn Street, Union Street, Biltmore Park, and the BankNewport City Center.

Check below for this month’s specific details!

WEEK 6: October 1, 2022

GRANT’S BLOCK

During OAS, Grant’s Block park (on the corner of Union Street and Westminster Street) features live traditional music from around the world sponsored by InDowncity and programmed by Providence World Music. On October 1, listen to the Attractors perform from 1-2:30 p.m., followed by Kweku Aggrey Jazz Trio from 3:30-5 p.m.

Long Live Beerworks’ beer garden also returns with 80+ seats; on the menu, enjoy exclusive canned beer from Long Live Beerworks along with regional cider and wine offerings. Getting hungry? Cultrō will be downtown for the day!

While you’re on the block, stroll along Westminster Street and check out pop-ups along the street. Sarah Dudek can be found in front of Craftland, and Arielle Szt in front of Queen of Hearts and Modern Love.

ABORN STREET

On Aborn Street (between Washington Street and Westminster Street), Durk’s Bar-B-Q hosts its first annual “Durktoberfest” from 2-7 p.m. as part of the final Open Air Saturdays! Head to Durk’s as they welcome Hollow Turtle for live music starting at 2 p.m. Patrons can enjoy Durks’ famous whisky-based cocktails outdoors, as well as a selection of smoked meats and barbecue and Oktoberfest themed food specials. Moniker Brewery will set up a beer garden with street seating.

And as a special treat for the kids, the festivities include a bounce house.

On the same block, Rosalina has outdoor dining and a bocce court in the street.

UNION STREET

Kin Southern Table + Bar curates the “Kin Marketplace,” a mini market on Union Street–between Washington Street and Worcester Street–that highlights various BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and women-owned businesses. On October 1, shop the wares of Distant Relatives and the Black Leaf Tea and Culture Shop.

Enjoy outdoor seating with Soul Food classics and rum-based cocktails by Kin Southern Table + Bar.(Bring the pups for treats, too!) Throughout the day, listen to a mix of R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae, and Afro Beats by Gibran.

BILTMORE PARK

At Biltmore Park, Trinity Beer Garden serves local craft beer and select cocktails and mocktails. (Yes, that is the Kimchi Bloody Mary calling your name.) Granny Squib will offer ice teas. Attendees will enjoy music, outdoor games, and the exclusive opportunity to order food delivery from Reiners. Trinity Beer Garden is both family-friendly and dog-friendly so start packing those dog treats.
