Where to Dance in Providence: The Salon

September is the month of new seasons and opportunities. Not only does the school year kick off and autumn begin, but there’s a fresh lineup of music, dancing, and cocktails at one of our go-to dance clubs in Providence, RI, The Salon! For over a decade, The Salon has been a vibrant destination for hearing DJs, taking pickleback shots, dancing on the underground dance floor, and playing the handful of flashing, beloved arcade games. And after it re-opened in 2022 following a pandemic closure, the good vibes are back and stronger than ever!
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE SALON
The Salon has been around since the year 2010, when it opened in Downtown Providence at 57 Eddy Street. Each month, The Salon hosts a solid lineup of local DJs who spin a variety of genres, from R&B tunes, to Latin music, to classic throwbacks. There’s a little something for everyone! (Including those of us at InDowncity who will happily dance—very badly—to any and everything.)
The Salon is open Thursday through Saturday for folks ages 21+; there is no cover, except for during a few special events on occasion. One thing we LOVE about this spot is that there are two floors and thus two vibes: grab a colorful cocktail, play arcade games, and chill at the tables upstairs with friends, or head downstairs beginning at 10 p.m. for dancing under the disco ball.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE SALON FOR SEPTEMBER 2023
So what’s on the menu at The Salon? Well, if we’re talking the ACTUAL menu, give the newest cocktail the “Cherry Bomb” a try. For events, a new monthly trivia and bingo series kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 28. Each month also boasts popular reoccurring programs centered around a genre or theme. BONUS: SALON FUN FACT
Because music is such a central component of The Salon, we just had to ask the important question: what songs get everyone on the dance floor? According to owner Norlan Olivo, there are a couple of solid options: Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You,” Bad Bunny’s “Party,” and an Ice Spice song that will go unnamed because it makes us blush beet red.
