That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

SUYA JOINT RESTAURANT GRAND OPENING
There’s a new restaurant in town! And we cannot wait to celebrate it. Head to Suya Joint at 320 Westminster Street in downtown Providence, RI on Friday, Feb. 7 from 4-9 pm for the Grand Opening celebration. No RSVPs are required, and this event is open to the public.
Simply join Chef Cecelia Lizotte and the Suya Joint team for complimentary samples of the West African fare, Afrobeats mixed by DJ Kitz, an African dance performance, pop-ups by local vendors, complimentary goodie bags (first come, first served), and more.
SYMPOSIUM BOOKS & ELLIE’S OPEN MIC NIGHT
Calling all poets, writers, and musicians! Symposium Books and Ellie’s are hosting an Open Mic Night together on Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 pm at Ellie’s on 250 Westminster Street in downtown Providence, RI. The sign up sheet opens at 5 pm (though folks can sign up by emailing store@symposiumbooks.com if unable to make it at 5 pm).
Performers are invited to bring their latest work, including “poetry, essays, short fiction, plays, songs, performance, standup, nonfiction, music, and more!” Ellie’s wine bar will also be open and serving wine, beer, N/A options, and light bites.
TRIVIA & TACO TUESDAY AT TRINITY BREWHOUSE
Looking for a little weeknight fun? Trinity Brewhouse is the place to be! Each Tuesday, enter Trinity’s free Tuesday Trivia for the chance to win prizes. Trivia starts at 7:30 pm each week. Getting hungry? Trinity also has a tasty deal all day long: order three tacos for the price of $10.
Trinity Brewhouse is known as one of New England’s first brewpubs. And ever since opening in 1994 in downtown Providence, they’ve been serving up beers and hearty pub fare.
