You’re hungry and looking for a restaurant where you can dive headfirst into something delicious, but you’re not sure where to start… Well, this is where InDowncity comes in! When it comes to sit down restaurants that offer lunch in downtown Providence, we’ve got you.

Here are six places where we often grab our midday meal. Please note- make sure to head to each business’s website for updates and hours.

OPEN FOR LUNCH: EVERYDAY

Pub food, here we come! Whenever we’re considering a stop for lunch in Providence, Trinity Brewhouse on Fountain Street immediately comes to mind. Trinity opens at 12 p.m—seven days a week—and they offer 1/2 pound burgers and fries, nachos, pizza, fish and chips, and a wide variety of frothy Trinity beer.

OPEN FOR LUNCH: EVERYDAY

Whenever we have a craving for fresh sushi rolls—which is often—or a savory noodle dish, you can find us over at Sura on Westminster Street. Open everyday, Sura consistently offers tasty Korean and Japanese cuisine. (Pssst- we love sitting by the window for lunch and keeping an eye out for the pups of downtown Providence.)

THE MALTED BARLEY

OPEN FOR LUNCH: EVERYDAY

If pretzels and beer are a match made in heaven, then The Malted Barley—also on Westminster Street—is a salty little slice of heaven on earth. Open for lunch seven days a week, we love the casual atmosphere and plethora of housemade lunch options. We like to order a Cali Chicken Pretzel Sandwich with a refreshing IPA on tap. (This is also a great spot for those searching high and low for gluten-free housemade pretzels!)

TORI TOMO

OPEN FOR LUNCH: THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY (CLOSED WEDNESDAYS)

Have a craving for ramen? Can’t say no to garlic chili edamame, pork belly buns, or other Japanese fare? Take a seat at Tori Tomo on Washington Street for lunch! Everything on the menu is “traditional Japanese and innovative dishes,” and we are here for it. (No seriously- we are here for those pork belly buns every opportunity we have.)

OPEN FOR LUNCH: WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

Durk’s Bar-B-Q on Aborn Street is one of our favorite places downtown for incredibly smoked meats, from brisket to ribs! We highly recommend stopping in for lunch any day of the week. (Their pierogies boast an incredible combination of cheese, salty pastrami, savory potato, and sweet onions that we especially adore…)

SUYA JOINT

OPEN FOR LUNCH: TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

As of December 2024, Suya Joint is the newest kid on the—downtown Providence—block, and we are so grateful to have this lauded West African restaurant here! If you’re craving fufu and egusi stew, jollof rice, fried plantains, and other flavorful dishes, Suya Joint on Westminster Street has tons of lunch specials. (Psst they also have cocktail and African beers.)
